Levels for adults

You must have a membership of the church to be insured during classes and to be able to participate in classes. After this tuition costs £145 per term or £390 for all three terms. A term lasts 12 weeks.

Dansk 1
Beginner class; Over the three semesters, you will learn:
o               to greet and introduce oneself,
o               to understand short dialogues and to get on with everyday life in Denmark
o               to make plans FUTURE (what, where and when?)
o               to form the present, THEN and past tense
o               to say how you feel

Oral and written homework is given. You can't expect to learn a foreign language without a lot of effort from home. It is incredibly important that you prepare dialogues and vocabulary for each lesson for your homework.

Dansk 2
Intermediate level that builds on the Evening School's Danish 1. During the three semesters, you will learn:
o               read and write short paragraphs on topics in everyday life using basic grammar
o               to understand detailed directions, instructions, and messages regarding daily, personal, and work-related topics.

Oral and written homework is given. You can't expect to learn a foreign language without a lot of effort from home. It is incredibly important that you prepare dialogues and vocabulary for each lesson for your homework.

Dansk 3
The Danish 3 team is expected to have gone through both Danish 1 and Danish 2 in the Evening School. If not, for example if they are new to the evening school, you will expect them to have achieved a level that can be described as "advanced". This means that they can understand and answer clearly in both oral and written Danish of a simple nature.
The purpose of the course is also to develop the students' abilities to use the language effectively with a view to practical communication in Denmark and with Danes in general.  At the same time, insights into Danish culture and Danish society will be offered. It is hoped that the students will achieve a stage in language proficiency where they will be able to communicate effectively and eloquently using a broad and varied vocabulary.

Dansk 4
This level is for students who have completed the first 3 levels of the Evening School or who in some other way have achieved a level of Danish that makes it possible to focus on the further training of the ability to converse, read and understand both the written and the spoken language. In addition to a textbook, the teaching includes student presentations, various listening exercises, Danish TV news posts and/or articles as well as discussions about the Danish way of life and culture.
